Intricately Formed and Fashioned

If no one has told you today, you are beautiful. You are unique. In fact, Psalm 137:13-16 says that God intricately formed and fashioned you in your mother's womb. You are His handiwork. There is something mighty special about you. You are truly lovely.

I enjoyed the beauty of the snow covering the landscape all around me these past two weeks. I enjoyed watching every snowflake fall from the sky. Isn't it amazing that every snowflake is different? There are no two exactly alike. These are tiny masterpieces, each one a unique creation. Snowflakes are made up of delicate ice crystals formed in the clouds when water vapor condenses into ice crystals, starting the snowflake's journey. Each snowflake takes a different path from the sky to the ground, so each one is formed in a unique pattern that makes it one-of-a-kind.

The shape these snowflakes take and how they grow is determined by temperature and humidity. The colder, harsher temperatures produce the more intricate designs. High humidity levels lead to more complex snowflake structures. A lower, more comfortable humidity level results in simpler shapes.

The snowflakes fall at different speeds. As they fall, they pass through air pollution, dust, and soot. On their journey, they can melt and refreeze, altering their shape. This process can contribute to even more unique designs. The conditions in the clouds and the sky change constantly, creating endless variations in shape and size. This sparkling snow blanket that has covered our yards, driveways, rooftops, and lain upon every branch of our trees so beautifully, reflects the light around it like a mirror. And this snow absorbs sound. Have you ever noticed that it is quieter, more peaceful when it snows?

I pray today that as we see the last of it melt, our hearts will become quieter, more peaceful knowing that we are loved and we are known. I pray that whatever our own journey has looked like, we will trust our Creator with an unwavering trust, that we will rejoice in the process, and that we will reflect Christ rather than the conditions we've been passing through. He is sovereign over all creation. God's promises cover our lives with faithfulness. He makes all things beautiful.

I'm thanking you, GOD, from a full heart, I'm writing the book on your wonders. I'm whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I'm singing your song, High God. - Psalm 9:1-2
